TV Review: Chesapeake Shores

“You never forget the stuff you care about”- Nell. Once you watch, you won’t be able to forget the greatness that is Chesapeake Shores. It has the perfect cast that will leave you anxiously waiting each week for a new episode.

Description:

Chesapeake Shores is based on the novels “Chesapeake Shores” by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods. It is multi-generational family drama that follows Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory), a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother of two young daughters (Kayden and Abbie Magnuson), who makes a trip from New York City to her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Her visit home brings Abby face to face with her past, including her high school sweetheart Trace (Jesse Metcalfe), her uncompromising father Mick (Treat Williams) and her esteemed grandmother Nell (Diane Ladd). Abby realizes the toll her career has taken on her ability to be a hands-on mother to her daughters, and considers a permanent move to Chesapeake Shores. Adding to the family drama is the return to Chesapeake Shores of her mother Megan (Barbara Niven), who left the family years ago and is still estranged from some of her adult children. Rounding out the O’Brien clan are Abby’s siblings Jess (Laci Mailey), who is struggling to find her calling; Bree (Emilie Ullerup), a playwright in Chicago whose career and love life have stalled; Kevin (Brendan Penny) a soldier whose military career causes his family constant worry and Conor (Andrew Francis), a law school graduate who lives in New York City and comes back to the family home for the summer.

Review:

The 2 hour season premiere exceeded all of our expectations. You can always expect greatness when it comes to the Hallmark Channel and they nailed it with Chesapeake Shores. It centers around a family (the O’Brien’s) who has their ups and downs. We appreciated the genuine writing in the show. It shows a real family with real issues. Watching the premiere with my mother and sisters made us really appreciate family and is the first show that we all agree on is our new favorite show!. We cannot express how much we love the cast and love how there really is no lead actor or actress in the show. It truly is just live family; everyone is a piece of the puzzle and can’t work if someone is missing. We are truly hugs fans of the entire cast. Every actor/actress is believable in the character they portray. Growing up with 2 older sisters it is amazing to watch a show like Chesapeake Shores that is so relatable. We see so much of ourselves in the O’Brien sisters. No matter what, just like them they will always put family first and will always be there for each other, especially when it counts the most. We got to say Nell stole our hearts and is our favorite so far…(yes she is our favorite over the gorgeous Jesse Metcalfe). She has so much spunk and is full of life. Her lines crack us up and we are already using one of her lines: “I don’t like to gossip” in our everyday conversations. Even though, we always try to put family first, the show really emphasizes that life can sometimes get in the way. The authenticity of the show will have us watching every week. Can offically say that we are hooked and obsessed with Chesapeake Shores. And we are rooting for Abby and Trace. So excited to see what this season has in store for the O’Briens.
